The history
of the Corte di Emma hotel

Corte di Emma is the renovated and restructured 1950s family home of Marcello and Emma Chilese.

Architecture and furnishings

Both the architecture and the new, cosy, comfortable furnishings give a warm, welcoming air to this building, which for years was a popular meeting point with the families in the contrada, or neighbourhood.

Grandma Emma was very much the matriarch of the contrada, so when the decision was taken to turn the house into a hotel, the choice of name came naturally.
What the Chilese family wanted to do was to recreate a family atmosphere, an environment reminiscent of the community spirit typical of the traditional, old-style contrade; hence the superb blend of romantic, neo-country style furnishings and a wide range of modern facilities available to guests both in the bedrooms and in the common areas.

The hotel has 9 bedrooms, 3 singles, three doubles and three twin rooms, all of which have a private bathroom.

How we have renovated and restructured the hotel

The various systems have been developed using alternative technologies:

Solar energy system
for hot water and heating
Geothermal system
ceiling heating and air-conditioning, using radiant panels with an air treatment system in order to maximise comfort inside the building.
Water supply
and waste disposal using the municipal aqueduct and sewerage system managed by Acque del Chiampo spa.
